The Performance series is built for the stage: more volume and stronger projection, so the sound still reaches the back of a hall without amplification. The soundbox and string tensions are voiced in that direction, at the cost of an action that feels a little firmer than a practice instrument.
If you usually play amplified, settle the amplification first: an under-bridge pickup responds to soundboard movement and rewards a clean, quiet instrument, while a clip-on microphone depends more on the instrument's own volume and projection. Getting the order wrong is an expensive mistake.
For orchestras and ensembles, buy one model in a single batch — mixing batches introduces tonal differences that show up in tutti passages. See ensemble programmes for configuration options.
