Chun Tong Xiao Zheng is the entry model of the Xiaozheng (mini) series — around one metre long and light, suited to young beginners, small homes and players who travel with their instrument.

A mini guzheng is not simply a shrunken guzheng. String length and tension are redesigned for the shorter strings, and string positions and fingering are adapted so players do not have to learn a new left-hand logic.

The tone is crisp and moderate in volume, comfortable in a living room or bedroom. Being small, it is especially nimble in the top register while the bass is more contained — physics of the format, not a defect.

Mini instruments fear drops and pressure. Store flat or upright but never face down, and always use the supplied case when travelling; do not carry it by the head.

For sizing and where a small guzheng fits, see choosing the right guzheng size.

FAQ: Can a student alternate between a mini and a standard instrument? Yes, but choose a mini whose string positions and fingering stay close to a standard guzheng, or the change of action will interrupt their progress. For performance goals, keep the standard instrument primary.
